General FAQs

An introduction to what's on offer and who it's for.

Training options are available for different experience levels — from foundational courses like the Essentials of Qualitative Research to more advanced workshops such as the Thematic Analysis Masterclass. These courses can be taken as self-paced online programmes or as interactive in-person and live online workshops.

For beginners, the Essentials of Qualitative Research workshop is the ideal starting point. It covers the key characteristics of qualitative research, differences between qualitative and quantitative paradigms, qualitative theoretical frameworks, an introduction to coding and theme generation, and the importance of subjectivity.

Yes, absolutely. Experienced researchers benefit greatly from advanced courses like the Thematic Analysis Masterclass, which explores nuanced approaches and theoretical perspectives. This option is well-suited for those already familiar with qualitative research.

Course-Specific FAQs

Details about each programme and what to expect.

This 2-day workshop guides participants in developing a clear roadmap for their research, progressing logically from defining the research question to exploring ontology, epistemology, methodology, and data analysis. The workshop also includes interactive sessions and collaborative learning with peers.

The masterclass provides an in-depth exploration of thematic analysis, guiding participants through each stage with practical exercises and expert support. Key areas include principles, procedural practices, and the theoretical underpinnings of qualitative research and the thematic analysis family.

The course also provides insights into using thematic analysis across different data types, and includes comparisons with other qualitative analytic methods.

These two 3-hour online packages focus on enhancing productivity, confidence, and resilience as a researcher. The first workshop provides tools for productivity, focus, and resilience, while the second focuses on building confidence, connections, and presentation skills.

Both options include the same content — your choice comes down to personal preference and circumstance. All courses are hands-on and interactive, so whichever you choose, you'll have lots of opportunities for practical activities and collaboration.

💡 If you're on the fence: face-to-face offers a useful bonus — in-person peer networking.

Practical & Support FAQs

Guidance on suitability, coaching, and how courses work.

Each course has a suitability section on the website to help match with your experience level and project phase. Alternatively, feel free to reach out for personalised guidance.

Yes — one-on-one coaching is available for more personalised support. Each session lasts 90 minutes and is tailored to address your specific questions and project challenges.

Courses are designed to be widely applicable across fields that use qualitative research — including social sciences, healthcare, education, business, and more. Examples and guidance are adaptable to a range of disciplines.

Online courses are highly interactive. Live sessions include practical activities, discussions, and breakout groups to encourage collaboration and simulate the face-to-face experience. Additional support is available throughout to help participants feel comfortable and engaged.

Courses provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills directly applicable to research projects. Hands-on exercises, expert guidance, and comprehensive materials provide a depth of understanding that can be difficult to achieve independently.

Many participants find that the skills they acquire ultimately save them time and improve their research quality — making the training a very worthwhile investment.

Not at all. Courses are designed to be accessible at all experience levels. Beginners are encouraged to start with the Essentials of Qualitative Research workshop, which provides a solid foundation with clearly explained concepts and beginner-friendly examples.
